A coalition of Orlando-area event production and hospitality businesses has banded together to completely fund and produce a luxury charity gala, eliminating all overhead costs for a local organization dedicated to supporting bereaved youth. Through an initiative known as the Goodness Gala, the participating vendors have donated an entire event package valued at $100,000 to New Hope for Kids, a Maitland-based nonprofit organization.

Nonprofit fundraisers typically require substantial upfront investments, often consuming months of planning and significant portions of the proceeds raised to pay for venues, catering, and entertainment. By donating every element of the evening free of charge, the participating corporate partners ensure that every dollar contributed by attendees goes directly toward supporting community programs rather than covering operational event expenses.

New Hope for Kids has spent three decades aiding children who are navigating the loss of parents, siblings, or other close family members to illnesses, fatal accidents, suicides, and homicides. The organization provides specialized counseling and grief-support resources designed to help both surviving parents and children process their trauma, build resilience, and establish a sense of stability following catastrophic personal loss.

Brian Clark, the chief executive officer of New Hope for Kids, noted that being chosen for this opportunity represents a critical milestone for the Maitland charity. Despite providing services for thirty years, the organization continually strives to connect with grieving families who remain unaware of its programs. Clark emphasized that the fully sponsored gala offers an essential platform to elevate the charity's profile while delivering joy and emotional support to households navigating immense pain.

The concept behind the Goodness Gala was originated by Sean Hughes, the chief executive officer of aVenue Event Group. Hughes, whose business owns The Balcony event venue in downtown Orlando, recognized the severe financial strain that conventional fundraising efforts place on charitable groups. While event businesses often provide occasional discounts, Hughes envisioned a comprehensive model where an entire coalition would supply every necessary service at zero cost.

The donated event will take place at The Balcony, utilizing its rooftop banquet hall and outdoor patio overlooking the downtown Orlando skyline. Beyond securing the premier venue, the partner companies are providing a full culinary spread, including dinner, hors d'oeuvres, and an open bar service for the evening’s attendees.

The production extends far beyond the space and food, covering every technical and aesthetic need of a major fundraising gala. The coalition has contributed professional sound and stage lighting setups, disc jockey entertainment, photography coverage, printed event programs, dining tables, and custom floral centerpieces.

A diverse roster of Central Florida event suppliers came together to fulfill the ambitious production requirements. The collaborative roster of donors includes TableTop Catering, Orlando Marquee & Decor, Go To Event Rentals, iRock Your Party, Bellamore Studio, Faux Real Flowers, On Top Printing, and Printed for Light, alongside aVenue Event Group.

James Marino, the owner of TableTop Catering, reflected on the importance of directing corporate philanthropy toward local community crises that often remain out of public view. Marino observed that while the concept of children losing their parents is frequently depicted in fictional media, discovering the actual prevalence of childhood bereavement in the local community inspired his team to take active responsibility through service.

To ensure transparency and fairness in choosing the beneficiary, Hughes established a formal application and evaluation framework in collaboration with the Central Florida Foundation. The foundation, which specializes in philanthropic guidance across the region, assisted in reviewing thirty-six local nonprofit applications submitted for this year's gala package.

This marks the second edition of the collective philanthropic initiative. During its inaugural year, approximately two dozen nonprofit organizations submitted applications, resulting in the selection of NextStep Orlando, a charity dedicated to rehabilitation and recovery services for individuals living with paralysis.

Hughes explained that the selection process is deeply moving for the participating vendors, noting that review sessions routinely require tissue boxes as business owners read through the emotional appeals of dedicated local charities. However, the mission of New Hope for Kids stood out as particularly compelling to the entire committee of donors.

The vital nature of the charity's mission is reflected in its peer-support gatherings, where young children share their experiences of sudden loss, from being awakened to tragic news to facing the everyday absence of a parent during routine family activities. Within these circles, grieving children find empathy and solidarity among peers who understand their unique challenges.

Gloria Capozzi, the director of community outreach for New Hope for Kids, highlighted that witnessing children transition from profound grief toward healing represents a powerful transformation, describing the process as seeing light emerge from darkness. The upcoming gala aims to sustain these transformative programs by maximizing donor contributions.

As guests gather at the downtown rooftop venue on Saturday night, the organizers anticipate significant financial support that will directly bolster New Hope for Kids' counseling initiatives. Looking ahead, the participating corporate coalition plans to sustain its community commitment, with Hughes announcing that applications for the 2027 Goodness Gala will officially open on October 1 to continue making a substantial local impact.
